About Our Animals

All of our animals at S-Farms are family to us.  Animals living at the farm and who help us with the goat yoga and animal-assisted healing programs include horses, donkeys, miniature goats and chickens. For those of you who wish to have dogs included in your Healing Plan at the farm, we have partners that bring their trained therapy dogs to the farm.

The staff at S-Farms goes to great length to ensure each animal is trained and qualifies to participate in the program.  Our awesome staff also ensures the farm is tidy and clean (as much as a farm can be) and that our animals are up to date on vaccinations, worming and are well cared for and clean. 

Additionally, it is our policy to always have an experience handler with any client and/or visitor to ensure a positive experience for the client and animal.  However, in full transparency listed below are potential risks of being on the farm and around animals:

1. An animal may bite, scratch or kick if safety rules aren't followed or if the animal isn't handled inappropriately.
2. Allergies to animals
3. The possibility of patient possessive behaviors (i.e. a reluctance to part with an animal at the end of a session). 
4. The possibility of attachment problems and grief reactions. 
5. The possibility that recipients will not bond with an animal at all – sometimes due to a lack of a frame of reference or level of curiosity.

We do offer an aftercare program for those who wish to continue working with the animal to hopefully avoid risks, #3 and 4. 

All clients entering the program and visitors are required to sign a liability waiver that releases the farm and its employee from any liability resulting from injury, damage or death.
